   If it is in a never opened vacuum packed package and the expiration date has not passed, you are good to go.

   The main thing is the exp date.

   Add: if there is no date, then it has a long shelf life. The kind that comes like that from Alaska lasts months. It sounds safe to eat. If it is vacuum packed, it can last for a year.

    Smoked salmon that is still in its original sealed container should be safe. However, if the original seal has been opened or compromised in anyway, throw it out. If your not sure, then chuck it.
    "when in doubt, throw it out"
    Its better to be safe than sorry. Catching a food borne illness is horrible and can have you "exploding fro both ends" if u know what i mean. If your not sure, just get rid of it… NO smoked salmon is worth potentially having bloody diarrhea.

    You should be fine. My mom had smoked salmon for months. It hadn’t been opened, and wasn’t refridgerated, but once we opened it, it lasted a few months in the fridge. We used it here and there on salads or in paste. Its like beef jerky . Beef jerky is good forEVER. Smoked salmon, also good for a while.

    if it was in the freezer then yes u can . freezer preserves meat for about 3 months after being purchased. but if it was on the bottom where u keep milk egss juices and so on , then no u need to throw it out
