what to do with canned oysters?

Mar-12-2010 By admin

I randomly bought a can of oysters at walmart for kicks, they are "geisha brand whole oysters in water" what can I do with them? if served chilled on crackers would they be like poor-man’s oysters on the half-shell?

Put ‘em on a craker. Real Oysters come either in a pint jar or in the shell. I’ll open a can now and then just for a hint of the taste but I don’t compare them to the real thing.

I hate slimy foods like that. Better left in ocean than in your mouth.

Canned oysters go alright on a antipasto platter with different cold meats, olives, sundried tomatoes, chargrilled vegetables, dips and crackers.

Put the oysters in a pot add 1/2 gallon of milk, 4 Tbsp butter and pepper taste. Heat until warm, but don’t boil the milk. It’s what we call oyster stew where I’m from. I like to put lots of crackers in it then.

I wouldn’t touch them, but if I did I would rinse well under very cold water……..

Try deep frying them. Make sure to drain and dry them well before (water and hot oil don’t mix!)
