Is it okay to give a cat cooked oysters?

I like to eat canned Oysters. Every time I do my cat yowls for me to share it with him. I’ve done some research but cannot find anything on the safety of this. They are canned in soybean oil.
I would not recommend it for it may be too rich for your cat’s digestive system and then you will have a mess on the floor…

As long as he is not allergic to oysters or soybean oil I say let him have it. I gave some to my cat once and he has had no ill effects. But I know someone who has a cat that is allergic to oysters, the cat gets a bad rash and has trouble breathing.
Ask your vet about it though he/she may have some info that we don’t have. Good Luck!

I would have to say no, you have to be very careful when giving your animals people food, food made especially for them has been formulated that way for a reason. I’m sure some cats can tolerate it and not have a problem but it’s always best to stick with what is made for their digestive systems.

Our tomcat Feisto was howling at me for some prawns so I gave him a couple.
He wolfed them down and promptly vomited violently.
Then he came back and demanded some more, but this time I just laughed at him.

Fish and fish flavored products are not good for cats due to the fact they are high in magnesium. Magnesium will then cause urinary tract infection/blockage. This occurs when the magnesium crystalizes and blocks the urethra. This generally happens twice as often in male cats compared to females, but the risk is always there so I wouldnt take a chance. My cat had both uti and blockage. It took quite awhile for it to clear up and quite a bit of $ as well. I now give my cat only one food and that is Purina One for Urinary Tract Health.
