How do you like your white fish??

I like mine with lots of fresh herbs and white wine… how about you?

Fried, of course, with chips and malt vinegar (and a little tartar; and not just that BS mayo and relish stuff, put some chopped onion in there at least).

If it had to be another way, for you gourmand types; broiled with a lemon-butter-caper sauce. Dash of wine in there, if you please, Pinot Grigio.

Can I use frozen fish to make ceviche?

Do I have to use sushi-grade or fresh fish to make ceviche, or can I use thawed out frozen fish? I have heard of using Frozen Shrimp for ceviche, but I plan on making a white fish ceviche.
Ceviche is cooked with the acid of the lemon. I want to make sure it would be SAFE to use frozen fish. I live overseas and it’s almost impossible to get fresh fish.

I wouldn’t think it would matter as long as you marinated with lemon .

Baking white fish for potluck cook at home or prepare and finish cooking at work?

I’m bringing baked whiting fish to my companies potluck tommorow. I want to know what the best method to keep the dish as fresh as it can be without burning or drying it out.
Should I
a: Prepare fish at home the night b4 refrigerate and cook at work?
b. Prepare fish cook almost all the way then finish cooking the next day at work?
or
c. Prepare and cook fish and then just reheat in the oven at work?

I would do c because if the ovens are different you may come out with results you were not expecting. For instance say you prepare the fish in a newer oven withthe timing right etc etc it may cook quicker than an older oven who’s timing is off. Some ovens if not taken care of properly willdifferentiate in heat say your oven’s 400 = 400 degrees another oven 400 may in fact = only up to 375

When making Fish and Chips, how do I keep the battered fish from sticking to the mesh basket ?

I have a new home deep fryer and wish to make fresh fish and chips for my family, however I can’t figure out how to keep the battered fish from grabbing onto the wire mesh basket while cooking…I have only been sucessful when skewering the fish onto a bamboo stick…….
Any good batter recipes for Halibut or other white fish?

ooooo give me a piece with some tartar sauce and a cold beer.

White spot in my fresh water fish tank?

i was shocked to find out i had white spot in my tank…

My tank has been together for a little over a month now
i conditioned the water before fish went in.

i had 11 neon’s and 2 goldfish.

after 3 weeks the gold fish got hungry in the middle of the night and in a day i had 3 neon’s left.. i read something about them mating.. but as far as i knew they were to young to reproduce..

so i took out the gold fish placed them in another tank!! fearing this would scare my 3 year old daughter…

but now they have white spot??

i have read many article’s and i thought white spot was got into the tank when to many fish were being introduced at once….

so can anyone tell me what caused the gold fish after so long to eat the neon’s and then what and how i got white spot in the tank???

Ich is a parasite, not fungus, and it commonly infects stressed fish. Too small a tank, poor water quality, or even the transfer from tank to tank can allow paraistes to infect fish carrying it. Most fish have the parasite to some degree, but are not infected, as their immune system represses the parasite’s growth. The stress weakens the immune system, allowing the parasites to multiply and reach infectious levels. For this reason, reducing stress should be a first line of defense and is key to treatment. Along with this, you’ll need to medicate, either using copper (Coppersafe, Cupramine, Organicure, Aquarisol), malachite green + formalin (Quick Cure, Rid Ich), or any of the other commercial medications. Be sure to remove any activated carbon during treatment (though this is unnecessary for straight copper medications), and if using medications with malachite green (also called victoria green B), keep the tank dark, as it degrades with light.

Treat the tank for at LEAST 2 weeks after all signs of the parasite are gone at temperatures below 75*, and 1 week after all signs of the parasite are gone above 75*.

Marjan Tehrani is a documentary filmmaker. Born and bred in the United States, Marjan had an American mother and an Iranian father. Her latest film takes her back to her Persian roots and tells the story of Marjans brother taking his American wife to Iran to have a traditional Persian wedding.

When The Takeaway’s Femi Oke went to meet Marjan Tehrani it was just a few days before the Persian New Year. So as they chatted Marjan showed Femi how Iranian families celebrate their new year, talked about growing up half Iranian and why Sean Penn is on her fridge!

Sabzi Polo Mahi (rice with green herbs and fish)
Ingredients:
Parsley
Cilantro
Scallions
Basmati rice
Coriander
Chives
Dill
Fenugreek
Saffron
Fresh White Fish
Plain yogurt
Salt and pepper

Chop parsley, cilantro and scallions. Cook basmati rice. In a saucepan, add rice and mix in chopped parsley, cilantro and scallions. Dissolve saffron in water and add to rice with salt and pepper. Cook rice until the bottom of the saucepan is layered with golden crunchy rice. Dont burn it–just make it crunchy! Steam the fish with the seasoning. Serve fish on a bed of rice with a side helping of plain yogurt.
