			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It makes me feel very uncomfortable. Sometimes they are waiting some time  and I just feel it is needlessly cruel. Anyone who cooks lobster, can you tell me how much pain the procedures involve for the creature? This is a serious question.<br />
<br />They don&#8217;t feel pain.  The humane way to do it is put the live lobster in cool water, then turn the burner on and the water gradually warms up.  Lobsters are cold water fish, warm water puts them to sleep.  So they&#8217;ll slowly go to sleep and basically die in their sleep.  When people talk about the lobsters &#8217;screaming&#8217;, that&#8217;s just the steam escaping from the shell.  Lobsters have no vocal cords.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I love lobster, but can&#8217;t enjoy it knowing that they are boiled alive (Can you imagine a worse way to go?)  Is there any way to kill a lobster more humanely?<br />
<br />Place the lobster in the pot and cover with cool water and half a bottle of white wine. Put the pot on the stove on medium heat and slowly bring to the boil. The lobster will be lulled off to sleep by the wine and slowly warming water. There is no thrashing about, the lobster doesn&#8217;t need to be tied up, nor does the lobster try to get out of the pot. All is quiet and the lobster appears to just go to sleep. </p>
<p>The water from cooking your lobster should not be wasted, it makes a wonderful base for lobster bisque.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I am thinking about making lobster for my husband for valentines day but i have never made one before..also what are some good side dishes to go along?<br />
<br />Steamed&#8230;..  LARGE pot or roasting pan with a lid.  Put an inch or two of water in the bottom I also put a rack of some sort in like a cookie rack to raise the lobster off the bottom a bit.  If the lobster have rubber bands on their claws, take them off. Lobster should be VERY active, btw. Keep them very cold until you cook them. Watch the claws!!!!  Grab them from the back of the body shell (they can&#8217;t bite you there &#8211; claws can&#8217;t reach that far back). Bring the water to a brisk boil.  Plunk them in the pot and cover.<br />
They will move a bit (in resentment, I suspect!!). Thats OK. Keep them covered and at a good boil for 30 minutes approx if the lobsters are in the 1-1/2 pound range.<br />

<br />Bring a large pan of salted water to almost a boil, lower the lobsters in and bring to the boil, cook for about ten minutes or until bright red. To serve simply with melted butter for dipping.<br />
Lobsters can sometimes shed a claw in put into boiling water, but they don&#8217;t &#8217;scream&#8217; &#8211; this is just air being forced out  of the shell by the pressure of the water &#8211; Bon appetite!</p>
